ENTRY LEVEL ELECTRICAL AND AUTOMATION ENGINEER

Sivret Engineering is seeking a recent graduate to fill an Entry Level Engineer position.  The primary role of this position is to provide technical and design consulting services for mining, pulp and paper, industrial, commercial and government clients.  This position will work under the supervision of licensed Professional Engineers.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist supervising Engineer in field work for data collection, visual inspections, etc.,

  • Collaborate with the supervising Engineer and other design team members on design tasks such as preparing proposals, scopes of work, estimates, schedules, budgets, specifications and reports,

  • Computer-aided drafting and designing using industry-standard platforms to develop Construction Documents

  • Limited travel to job sites to conduct site investigations and inspections,

  • Producing installation details, motor control center single lines, electric room layouts, motor control elementaries, connection diagrams, cable schedules, control panel layouts and grounding, lighting, power and instrumentation plans under general supervision,

  • Developing conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks at hand,

  • Producing estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.

  • Producing detail design calculations and sketches for materials of construction associated with the project,

  • Calculations produced will be neatly prepared and organized for efficient checking by others and efficient use by drafters/designers for preparing drawings and as a deliverable when required,

  • Assisting the drafting group in resolving routine layout and detailing problems,

  • Consulting with design leaders from other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project,

  • Reviewing and checking vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for electrical/instrumentation input.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering,

  • Registered as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT),

  • Strong educational achievement commensurate with coursework and academic load,

  • Ability to work productively independently and as a member of a project team,

  • Liase with team members in other disciplines to ensure client needs are met,

  • Excellent analytical and  written/verbal communication skills,

  • Experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation,

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel MS Project and Outlook),

  • Detail and quality oriented,

  • Strong organizational and planning skills,

  • Strong numerical ability and reasoning skills,

  • Valid driver's license with access to a personal vehicle.

Desired but not Required Additional Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge in engineering standards, codes and guidelines,

  • Basic knowledge of mining and pulp and paper related processes,

  • Ability to perform lighting level calculations,

  • Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications,

  • Ability to perform voltage drop calculations,

  • Ability to route conduit and cable tray,

  • Ability to calculate tray and conduit fill,

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written,

  • Good presentation skills.
